Teen Investigators
Susan House & Katharine Scott under their English Learning Webs methodology
1–3 hours per week

American English
Our new program for English language teaching focuses on investigation and discovery as a means of encouraging students to exercise judgement and critical thinking during the one to three hours a week they’ll spend working through the contents.
Teen Investigators proposes a methodology that motivates students and promotes communication by exposing them to creative challenges that consist of problem-solving activities they can tackle in pairs or small groups. Some benefits of incorporating investigation in the classroom are:
- Provides a wide scope of themes to appeal to different interests.
- Provides a wide variety of contexts and registers for language.
- Promotes cooperative work.
- Provides contexts for problem-solving and creative thinking skills.
- Promotes autonomous learning.
By providing these types of experiences in the classroom, teachers give their students the confidence to ask questions in English and become teen investigators!
